Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve conducted a telephonic conference call with the Coalition Troop Contributing Nations Defense Attachés on Tuesday May 19, 2020.
British Major General Gerald Strickland, Deputy Commander for Strategy, hosted a meeting with Coalition Defense Attachés (DAs) and Senior National Representatives (SNRs) to discuss their national contributions to supporting the Government of Iraq's goal of permanently defeating Daesh and promoting regional security.
Representatives from 19 nations participated on the teleconference.
The conference is part of a regular series of meetings designed to ensure that all CJTF-OIR troop contributing nations remain aligned and synchronized as the mission to defeat Daesh advances.
CJTF-OIR has re-positioned, over the last few months, to fewer bases and fewer forces, but Maj. Gen. Strickland emphasized that the Coalition continues to provide the same support to security partners in Iraq and Syria as before—including high-level advising, planning, intelligence, and air support. The Iraqi Security Forces and Syrian Democratic Forces are maintaining pressure on Daesh remnant; the Coalition remains to assist as necessary.
