CJTF-OIR continues partner support to Defeat ISIS

By CJTF-OIR PAO | Dec. 25, 2018

SOUTHWEST ASIA – Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve continued supporting Coalition partner forces with precision air strikes and coordinated fires to make further progress in the fight against ISIS in the Middle Euphrates River Valley, Syria, Dec. 16 – 22.

These coordinated attacks destroyed ISIS logistics facilities and staging areas; ultimately this severely degraded ISIS capabilities to maneuver and control their attack formations, but also removed several hundred ISIS fighters from the battlefield. Coalition precision strikes also targeted several ISIS financial centers and capabilities in Susah and As Shafah, which delivered a significant blow to the ability of ISIS to finance terrorist activities.

“ISIS presents a very real threat to the long-term stability in this region and our mission remains the same, the enduring defeat of ISIS,” said United Kingdom Maj. Gen. Christopher Ghika, CJTF-OIR deputy commander.

Coalition partner forces continue to advance through the last remaining stronghold ISIS has in the region, rooting out the fighting positions of ISIS fighters.
