Coalition program provides $219M in assistance to Iraqi, Syrian partners in FY22 Q1

By CJTF-OIR Public Affairs CJTF-OIR

In continued efforts to maintain the enduring defeat of Daesh, Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve provided approximately $219 million in assistance to Iraq partner forces and vetted Syrian partner forces in the first quarter of fiscal year 2022 through the Counter-ISIS Train and Equip Fund, or CTEF.

CTEF is a biennial U.S. appropriation designed to bridge Partner Force capability gaps to ensure the enduring defeat of Daesh.

“Resources provided by CTEF have helped improve the capabilities of our Partner Forces and contribute to regional security in the Middle East,” said a representative of the CJTF-OIR Directorate of Military Assistance. “CTEF resources assist our partners in enhancing their security capacity and directly contribute to ensuring the continued defeat of Daesh.”

The CJTF-OIR Directorate of Military Assistance, working with the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, ensures the divestment of critical assets to the Coalition’s partner forces as they promote peace and stability throughout the region.

Since its inception in 2014, the CTEF has provided more than $8.9 billion in assistance. Examples of equipment divestments include armored military vehicles, forklifts, ambulances, wreckers, fuel and water tankers as well as communication assets ranging from radios to air traffic control systems and weapons packages.

Transferring equipment through CTEF assists our partner forces in achieving important milestones in the fight against Daesh and has supported the prolonged stability and security of Iraq and its citizens.

CJTF-OIR is the military component of a Global Coalition of 79 nations and five international organizations who are operating in Iraq at the request of the Government of Iraq, and in northeast Syria supporting our partners as they secure the enduring defeat of Daesh.
