Brigadier General Kevin J. Lambert

Commander, Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve

Brigadier General Kevin J. Lambert commissioned into the Infantry through ROTC at North Georgia College in 1993. He started his career serving as a Rifle Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Prior to attending the Infantry Officer’s Advanced Course, he moved to Fort Moore, Georgia and served as a Platoon Leader and Battalion Civil Affairs Officer in 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.

Following the Infantry Captain’s Career Course, Brig. Gen. Lambert served as an assistant operations officer and Rifle Company Commander in the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Liberty, North Carolina. After company command, Brig. Gen. Lambert served as an instructor and Aide-de-Camp at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York.

Following the Command and General Staff College, Brig. Gen. Lambert served as the Operations Officer for 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment and 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. From 2009 to 2010, he served as an Observer/Coach-Trainer (OC/T) at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Johnson, Louisiana.

Brig. Gen. Lambert commanded 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, Fort Riley, Kansas from 2010 to 2013.  Following battalion command, he served as an operations officer and the Executive Assistant to the Director for Operations, Joint Staff.

Brig. Gen. Lambert commanded 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Wainwright, Alaska from 2016 to 2018. In June 2018, he became the 22nd Program Manager for the Office of the Program Manager, Saudi Arabian National Guard. In June 2019, Brig. Gen. Lambert returned to Fort Riley, Kansas to serve as the Division Chief of Staff.

Brig. Gen. Lambert served as the Deputy Commander – Support and Deputy Commanding General – Maneuver for the 3rd Infantry Division from 2021 to 2023 at Fort Stewart, Georgia and most recently as the Deputy Commanding General – Support for V Corps, forward based in Poland. He became the Commanding General, Security Force Assistance Command on 4 June 2024 at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Brig. Gen. Lambert is a graduate of the United States Army War College. His operational deployments include Haiti, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Brig. Gen. Lambert and his wife, Shannon, have two daughters: Abigail (26) and AnnaPaige (22).
