The building partner capacity mission is an integral part of the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve’s multinational effort to militarily defeat Da’esh in Iraq and Syria.

This week’s graphic features a glimpse of night operations training as Iraqi soldiers climb onto an M1 Abrams at the Besmaya Range Complex, Iraq, April 16, 2016. The training helps further the Iraqi soldiers’ knowledge of the M1 Abrams’ systems. This training is critical to enabling Iraqi security forces to counter the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant as they work to regain territory from the terrorist group.

The building partner capacity mission aims to increase the security capacity of local forces fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant by enabling indigenous forces to take ISIL head on while leveraging U.S. and Coalition nation airpower to halt the terrorist’s momentum.
