Southwest Asia - The building partner capacity mission aims to increase the security capacity of local forces fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant by enabling indigenous forces to take ISIL head on while leveraging U.S. and Coalition nation airpower to halt the terrorist’s momentum. This week’s graphic features an Iraqi soldier as he looks through the sights of a Mark 19 grenade launcher during a training exercise at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq, May 27, 2016. Iraqi soldiers were taught familiarization techniques such as conducting functions checks, weapons assembly and disassembly, and misfire trouble-shooting procedures.
