Spokesman, Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve



Colonel Ryan Dillon is the Spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, U.S. Central Command.

He commissioned in the Infantry upon graduation from Providence College in 1995.


His initial assignment was with the 82d Airborne Division where he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Support and Transportation Platoon Leader, and as the Air Operations Officer in the 2d Battalion (Airborne), 505th Infantry. Next he was assigned 2d Battalion, 54th Infantry Regiment, at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as a company commander in the Infantry Training Brigade. COL Dillon was then assigned to Grafenwoehr, Germany, where he served as Chief of the Virtual Training Center for 7th Army Training Command, United States Army Europe.

COL Dillon was assigned to 1st Battalion (Airborne), 508th Infantry as the Assistant Operations Officer, then Company Commander. COL Dillon led his company in the airborne assault into Northern Iraq in March 2003. He served in Afghanistan in 2005 as the Battle Major for Combined Joint Task Force-76, in Bagram, Afghanistan, and then as the Liaison Officer to the 11th Pakistani Corps, in Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2006.

COL Dillon transitioned from the Infantry to Army Public Affairs in 2006.  He served in Vicenza, Italy, first as the public affairs officer for the Southern European Task Force, then later for U.S. Army Africa. After Command and General Staff College he returned to Vicenza where he served as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Africa. COL Dillon commanded the 24th Press Camp Headquarters, in Fort Bliss, Texas from 2014 to 2016. His most recent assignment was with the Office of Army Public Affairs, in Washington D.C.  

COL Dillon’s education includes a Bachelor’s degree in History and two Masters degrees. COL Dillon’s awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge with Combat Assault, Pathfinder Badge, and Ranger Tab.
